Kate’s Journal: Mostly a Lot of Daily JPGs

Quick Diversions

February 19, 2007 · Leave a Comment

I’ve been reminded that it is President’s Day, the happiest day of the year (despite the fact that I’m at work trying to make up for being out on Friday – we don’t take “minor” holidays off in my industry, apparently) and I’m too busy catching up with stuff and wishing that this scratchy throat wouldn’t turn out to be the CREEPING DEATH PLAGUE that is going around my workplace to think up a really interesting, meaningful post, so instead I’m going to divert you in two different ways.

First, for those of you who are into Mondays and bad poetry, go here and try your hand at a deceptively tricky Daily Haiku.

Second, in the spirit of PRESIDENT’S DAY – THE HAPPIEST DAY OF THE YEAR, see how many of the following questions you can answer without researching online. I heard this on the radio and you’re supposed to be driving your car trying to answer them – after all, anyone can find information online! You can use your own brain or your friend’s brain, but no books and no Wiki.

  1. How many Presidents have there been so far?
  2. Which President said, “Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country”?
  3. Who was the oldest person to ever take the office of the Presidency?
  4. Who was the youngest person to ever take the office of the Presidency?
  5. Which President was never elected?
  6. Which Presidents were assassinated in office?
  7. Who was the first President to live in the White House?
  8. How many Presidents were not born American citizens?
  9. Who was the only President to never get married?
  10. Who were the tallest and shortest Presidents?
  11. Who was the only President to get elected twice without ever winning the popular vote?
  12. Who were the 10th, 20th, 30th, and 40th Presidents?

Person who gets the most correct without cheating (and I’ll know – I have flying monkeys who are spying on you) gets a cookie.
